Das Fraunhofer-Netz

This article introduces the Fraunhofer Network. The Fraunhofer Network is more than the sum of its hardware and software. This is elaborated in Chapter 2, where also an overview on the background of the net is given. After a brief outline of the development of the Fraunhofer Network in Chapter 3 the components of the network are introduced. The hardware of the net, the services provided by the net as well as the Network Operating Center Experience gained running the Network is reported in Chapter 7, the article finishes with an outlook on the furure of the network.
