By historical development the criteria for design of constructions are changed from static calculation to validation based on fatigue strength under operational loading. This is decisive to achieve an optimum light weight, but "fit for purpose" design. Such design approach must talce into account parameters being decisive for structural durability-operational loading material properties and influence of manufacturing technology.
