Title
MyRehab - prototype for a telemedical assisted rehabiliation system at home and on the go
Abstract
Regular exercise promotes mobility and functional ability. While recovering from a serious injury or illness, and immediately after completing a medical rehabilitation program in particular, people tend to adhere to training routines. Their dedication, however, often fades with time. Sustaining their motivation would require a joint effort by themselves, their social networks, and involved professionals. On a larger scale, health promotion, that is satisfaction of the broader social responsibility to enable individuals to maintain good health, would require innovative approaches. In this paper we provide an overview over the system architecture for an integrated telerehabilitation system. We describe the needed components for monitoring of therapeutic progress, the exercise editor for configuration of new exercises, the domestic environment for patients training at home and the mobile system of the MyRehab-project.
