Wood-based panels produced from thermal-treated material

Wood-based panels for exterior use should be resistant against moisture and decay. One promising option to meet these requirements is to use thermal-treated wood to produce panels with optimized properties. This paper covers preliminary results on properties of panels produced from thermal modified wood as well as the future perspectives for this type of material. Panels were produced with modified and non-modified wood, varying pressing time factors. The samples were tested according to the European standards. The results show good potential for this panel material regarding dimensional stability and moisture resistance.
