Title

Detection dog training with a scientific basis and desensitized sensitive explosives

Abstract
The Explosives Detection Dog Center at Fraunhofer ICT provides a wide range of versatile and application-oriented training opportunities. Realistic operational scenarios, including luggage, indoor, and outdoor searches, can be accurately simulated to create deployment-relevant conditions for detection dogs. In addition, specialized training environments - such as scent lines, scent wheels, and various scent walls - enable systematic and diversified training protocols. A key advantage is the ability to train with explosive substances across a broad range of quantities, from trace amounts to operationally relevant bulk quantities. The technical equipment is continuously expanded and modernized, ensuring that training is conducted in accordance with the latest methodological standards.
