Title
Adaptive LED illumination with maskless irregular lenslet arrays and controlled crosstalk
Abstract
The illumination industry often seeks compact efficient systems for versatile beam shaping and steering, which classical optics often struggles to accomplish. Freeform components provide design flexibility but pose challenges related to tolerancing, fabrication, and measurement. Multi-aperture micro-optics enable compact systems for dynamic light-emitting diode lighting. We introduce maskless irregular lenslet arrays that combine space-filling and beam shaping in a single element. Our approach simplifies primary collimation optics and keeps an overall system in a very compact form factor, as illustrated in our study on switchable white-light beams with customizable intensity profiles.
