Specification of the CIP3 Print Production Format

In close collaboration with the Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics developed the specification of the Print Production Format. A group of 16 well-known manufacturers from various countries was then braught together, which revised and enhanced this specification Finally the format was named CIP3, which really was the name of this group: Cooperation for Integration of Prepress, Press and Postpress. The main purpose of the CIP3 format is to collect data from prepress into one file, which then can be used to setup printing presses and postpress machines (e.g. for cutting and folding).
