Diffusible hydrogen concentration in draw arc stud weldments under harsh conditions

The knowledge about the expected hydrogen concentration is fundamental for evaluating the cold cracking susceptibility, especially under harsh conditions. A method for determination of diffusible hydrogen concentration in stud weld metal based on the carrier gas hot extraction was applied in this paper. The effects of the surface, consumables storage and atmospheric boundary conditions regarding their effect on the resulting hydrogen concentration in drawn arc stud weld metal were studied and evaluated in this study.
