Internationale Kooperationen im Bereich Umwelttechnologie und die Rolle Deutschlands

In den vergangenen Jahren ließ sich ein starkes Wachstum der Umweltinnovationsaktivitäten in Schwellenländern beobachten. Angesichts dieser Entwicklung stellt sich die Frage, ob das deutsche Innovationssystem offen genug ist, um die sich dadurch ergebenden Chancen für die internationale technische Zusammenarbeit zu nutzen. Um dieser Frage nachzugehen, erfolgt in diesem Bericht eine Bestandsaufnahme der internationalen Kooperationsaktivitäten mit Fokus auf internationale Ko-Publikationen, internationale Ko-Patente, ausländische F&E-Direktinvestitionen deutscher Unternehmen sowie den internationalen Handel mit Umwelttechnologien.

The intensification of international research and technology cooperation can make an important contribution to overcoming global environmental problems. This study therefore takes stock of cooperative innovation activities in environmental technologies at the global level. The analysis is based on data on international co-publications, international co-patents, foreign direct R&D investments and international trade in environmental technologies. The innovation indicators considered in this study show strong growth in environmental innovation activities in emerging economies. Germany could support the global innovation dynamic in environmental technologies even more strongly. A number of starting points are identified for tapping this potential.
