Title

Energy-efficient lighting: Concepts for bringing the EPBD to practice

Abstract
This paper presents the general approaches as implemented in the CEN standardization efforts (TC 169- WG9) as well as in the future German standard DIN V 18599-4, which will most probably serve as reference for a new German directive enforcing the EPBD. The German standardization process refines the European approach in some aspects. In the paper a brief introduction to aspects of energy efficient lighting is given. The general approach of the methodology to calculate the monthly and annual lighting energy demand is described. The methods provided to estimate the installed electrical power of the artificial lighting system are briefly introduced. A new method to judge the impact of daylight supply has been developed in the working groups and will be presented. The method will finally be illustrated by an example.
