Title
Problem Definition of Modelling and Simulation of Industrial DC Microgrids
Abstract
In recent years, industrial direct current (DC) microgrids have become more popular in Germany, but the transfer from science to the field is still lacking. For electrical planners who have to plan and conceptualize the DC microgrid for industrial companies, a general planning procedure for industrial DC grids does not exist yet. For industrial companies, questions arise about personal and equipment safety, stability, and flexibility options. For many of the issues, there are no userfriendly methods for the electrical specialist planner and the industrial customer. This paper presents problems from science and practice in the planning, dimensioning, and operation of industrial DC microgrids. The focus is on experiences from the practical application of DC microgrids. The open problems from practice can be divided into problems in the operation scenarios of regular operation, fault scenarios, selectivity, and control evaluation. Until user-friendly methods can be provided for electrical designers, simulation of DC grids can fill the gap. Finally, a way to solve some of the problems through ontologybased modelling and simulation is presented.
