Title
Indoor exposure to Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) from the consumption of cannabis products
Abstract
Psychoactive substances are inextricably linked to the cultural history of mankind. For some time now, however, there has been a trend away from strict prohibition policies and some countries are moving towards legalizing the private use of cannabis. It can therefore be assumed that consumption in the home environment will increase. However, when smoking or vaping marijuana, i.e. the dried and crushed cannabis flowers, relevant amounts of Δ9- tetrahydro-cannabinol (THC) and other reaction products are released. This increases the risk of involuntary passive exposure, especially of children. It is therefore important to assess whether THC could pose a future societal health problem.
