Title
Inter-company business processes and e-collaboration
Abstract
Real-time companies can only be realized if inter-company processes are standardized, supported by suitable IT technologies and integrated in the business' value network. The tendency in the past of focusing primarily on internal processes is insufficient. This article describes major characteristics of inter-company business processes in the context of real-time companies and presents criteria for evaluating and selecting processes that are to be integrated. The contribution that inter-company e-business solutions, business integration technologies and standards can make toward achieving "real-time capability" is shown. Finally, an example of a procedure for developing a company into a real-time business is presented at the end of the article.
