Der vorliegende Beitrag beschreibt die Entwicklung des Fraunhofer-Instituts für Produktionstechnik und Automatisierung IPA in Stuttgart von seiner Gründung im Jahr 1959 bis heute. Das IPA gehört zu den ersten Instituten der Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (FhG) und ist heute ihr größtes Institut. This article deals with the historical development of the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA) in Stuttgart from its foundation in 1959 down to the present day. IPA is one of the longest-standing institutes of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (FhG) and today has become its largest research institute.
