Simulation based Supply Chain Management - New Perspectives

With the help of integrative tools, which structure and manage inter-company logistics processes, new rationalisation potentials are opening up for the manufacturing industry and their suppliers - provided that they develop into co-operative designers and managers of logistics processes. The reorganisation of existing logistics processes along with the implementation of co-operative planning and management tools becomes an essential prerequisite for the efficient operation of complex logistics networks. The rapidly developing information technology plays an important role in new concepts, an example being the supply chain management. The article describes an innovative simulation based approach for optimising the inter-company supply chain.
