Title

Quality defect diagnosis in model-driven software development

Title Supplement
VIDE deliverable D.4.2
Abstract
To support the modeler of a PIM during his work, information about possible threats to the quality (in respect to ISO 9126) of the PIM should be identified as early as possible. In this work package quality defects such as architectural smells, anti-patterns, or design flaws are investigated that might occur on the PIM level, and especially in the behavior model via the VIDE action language. Furthermore, new quality defects are explored that might emerge in the data-intense business domain or in the general context of action languages. The knowledge explored in this work package will be used to develop a module of VIDE that discovers quality defects from the internal PIM representation and annotates its textual and visual representation. This deliverable is split into two parts - this report (D4.2) focuses on the quality defect diagnosis techniques and includes related work, the model of the available information, visualization concepts for quality defects, and the technical specification of techniques to diagnose quality defects. The first report (D4.1) provided an in-depth survey about the state-of-the-art in quality defects that are a potential threat to the quality of models in MDSD.
