Title
Experimental system of an integrated communication network with glass fibres
Abstract
Presents new concepts for future communication networks based upon recent technological results in the area of optical fibre transmission and large scale integration of logic functions. The large bandwidth of optical channels allows the transmission of all kinds of communication services including video, sound and data whereas integrated semiconductor technology offers low cost realization of complex switching and signal processing functions. The concepts presented here will be realized and studied in an experimental system in the Heinrich-Hertz-Institut at Berlin (West).
