Title

How Feasible is the Transition to a Hydrogen Distribution Network?

Abstract
To address the challenges of the highly heterogenous building sector to achieve climate neutrality by 2045, a law to require municipal heat plans came into force in Germany. These heat plans can include designated areas for hydrogen networks, so that the research question occurs: "How can the transformation to a hydrogen distribution network be carried out and how long does it take?" To answer this question this paper provides insights into the required transition costs and time depending on a gas network created solely based on publicly available data. The results show that a transition by 2035 is the cheapest, however the transition process has to start soon.
