Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zur Herstellung eines Hohlprofils, das mit Metallschaum gefuellt ist, wobei das Hohlprofil und der Metallschaum bzw. eine Metallschmelze, aus der der Metallschaum gebildet wird, durch den Dorn der Strangpresse zu dem stranggepressten Hohlprofil zugefuehrt wird.
