Title

Integration of guided wave devices for very high bitrates

Abstract
Integration of key guided wave devices using InP technology for very high bit-rate systems such as laser/modulator, add/drop multiplexer, and photoreceiver is discussed. In this paper we consider some of the key components for TDM systems which are being studied in our laboratory. The transmitter consists of either a DFB laser/double-modulator or a mode-locked laser/modulator for RZ systems and a DFB laser/modulator for NRZ systems, respectively. The different data channels are electrically multiplexed in standard TDM and optically multiplexed using fiber delay lines in optical TDM systems, respectively.
