PublicationAn Ontological Framework for Adaptive Feedback to Support Students while Programming( 2011)
;Muñoz Merino, Pedro J. ;Pardo, Abelardo ;Scheffel, Maren ;Niemann, Katja ;Wolpers, Martin ;Leony, DerickDelgado Kloos, CarlosThis paper presents a global framework based on ontologies to generate effective feedback for students getting error messages while learning to program. The proposed framework includes several ontologies: one of the domain, one of possible mistake types and one of the causes of these mistakes. They are connected by an intermediary ontology. The feedback is adaptive and depends on contents or students profiles (derived from interaction data) and is supported by a fifth ontology. Possible compilation errors in an introductory C programming course are presented as an example of this framework. -

PublicationMARA - an augmented personal assistant and companion( 2006)
;Schmeil, A.Broll, W.Today one can observe that people make increasing use of advanced mobile electronic devices: mobile phones for communication, PDAs for dates and contacts, and GPS-based navigation aids. While there already is a trend towards combining such devices (e.g. smart phones with WLAN and GPS), their user interfaces are often awkward and difficult to use - especially when you need to have your hands free. Further the type of applications are very restricted due to the very limited display size. Augmented Reality (AR) provides a new technology, which allows us to realize a completely new type of personal assistant, integrating existing services. It provides an intuitive user interface by acting very similar to a real companion, additionally having direct access to personal electronic information.
