A control setup for the integration of simulation models and additional sensors is presented, The setup makes use of Ethercat technology and open source software components. Hardware is at industrial grade and a standard CNC can be integrated in principle. The real time execution of simulation models parallel to the NC control is of high potential for an application specific and cost efficient increase of functionalities or enhancement of performance for highly dynamical machine tools. One application is the real time error compensation of the dynamical positioning error, for example by use of a laser interferometer, presented here. Next steps will be the evaluation of control integrated simulation models instead of a laser interferometer, the test of different control strategies, the upgrade of the test bench to a three axis system and the integration of a standard CNC control for setpoint generation.
