Programming system for profile grinders. Today, profile grinders permit the production of complex workpiece geometries by using profile grinding wheels. Stationary or privatable dressing tools are used for producing the workpiece geometry on the grinding wheel; this geometry is then reproduced on the workpiece. Suitable programming systems have to make available a number of customized functions which take into account the technological marginal conditions of profiling.

3D-simulation system for boring and milling. Increasing model variety and reduced product lives call nowadays for production system enabling smaller and smaller batches to be cost-effectively manufactured with high productivity and quality. This is only possible by flexibly automating the production process. An important aspect in this context is the shortening of the setting-up time. High cutting and feed rates as well as sealing off the work area in the case of numerically-controlled machine tools make it more difficult for machine operators to visually monitor the machining cycles. For this reason the verification of newly prepared NC programs directly at the machine-tool takes up considerable time and can lead to damage to the machine. The selective application of 3D-simulation system in boring and milling work allows setting-up times to be minimized. The authors describe a dynamic simulation system for boring and milling at the Institute for Production Plant and Design Technology (IPK), Berlin.
