PublicationRequirements-driven Identification and Validation of Reusable System and Development Elements(Fraunhofer Verlag, 2021)Sünnetcioglu, AtakanThe well-known benefits of reuse in product development are reduced necessary effort, shorter development cycles and increased product quality due to the more mature solutions that are integrated into new products. Although it sounds paradox, reusing existing solutions in new development projects is one of the possibilities to increase the innovation power of a company. By applying reuse in a systematic way where applicable, product development teams can create additional resources for more innovative aspects of new products. This book reveals a requirements-driven approach for the identification of reuse in development projects. In this approach, product developers compare requirements of ongoing and completed projects to identify related requirements, which are suitable for reuse since they can be fulfilled with same solutions. However, comparison of requirements specifications is an elaborate and time consuming task for product developers.

PublicationUsing Transitive Relations for Automatic Creation of Consistent Traceability in Model-based Systems Engineering( 2018)
;Sünnetcioglu, AtakanStark, RainerTraceability allows product developers to know more about the logical relationships in model-based systems engineering. Despite the known advantages, traceability is still not established as a standard in product development. High amount of necessary work force for traceability creation counts as one of the major obstacles against traceability. In this work, we investigate the applicability of transitivity rule to automate the creation of traceability. The conducted experiment shows, that automated traceability creation with transitivity rule is possible, however, wrong tracelinks are still inevitable. -

PublicationModelTracer: User-friendly traceability for the development of mechatronic products( 2016)
;Sünnetcioglu, Atakan ;Rothenburg, UweStark, RainerThe development of complex mechatronic systems demands an integration of models throughout the virtual product development process. Systems engineering is an approach for enabling the development of successful interdisciplinary products. Traceability, one of the most important aspects of systems engineering, is a method for explicit documentation of logical relationships between development artifacts. In this paper we present a prototype traceability tool, ModelTracer, which aims to reduce the cognitive effort for the creation and maintenance of traceability models in systems engineering. -
