Machine diagnosis via Internet. The sweeping development of international networking of computer systems in the Internet offers possibilities for a distributed operation and visualization reaching into core areas of mechanical engineering and control techniques. Task fields range from using design data across company boundaries to distributed operating surfaces of control systems and to remote diagnosis. The article discusses basic aspects for teleservice in the Internet as compared to conventional methods.
