Here, monitoring of the machining process plays a vital part. Die im Beitrag vorgestellte Verwendung der Achsantriebsströme zur automatischen Werkzeugüberwachung stellt eine besonders kostengünstige Lösung dar. Dies liegt zum einen am Wegfall jeglicher Sonsorik, zum anderen an der ausschließlichen Nutzung der steuerungsinternen Prozessorkapazität. Bei der Drehbearbeitung ist mit den vorhandenen Softwaremodulen eine sichere Überwachung von Schrupp-, Plan- und Abstechvorgängen durch ein CNC-internes Softwarepaket möglich. Durch die Integration in die Steuerung ist die Kommunikation zwischen NC-Programm und Überwachungsroutine vereinfacht, wodurch bei Werkzeugbruch kürzeste Reaktionszeiten möglich sind. Minimierte Anforderungen an Speicher- und Prozessorkapazität schaffen die Voraussetzung für eine Implementierung in offene Steuerungssysteme.
