Neuro-fuzzy technologies for process assurance. In the past, approaches for a solution of artificial intelligence have been applied to numerous problems occuring on the sector of automation engineering. After a phase of euphoria, the results obrained were frequently unsatisfactory. In the beginning of the nineties, the new concept "Neuro Fuzzy" emerged. The present article discusses principles and major methods at an example from the sector of tool monitoring.

Tool monitoring with the Neuro Fuzzy method. Intelligent systems are conquering wide areas of automation engineering. With their help, a number of partly complex tasks can be better solved than before. Today, Neuro Fuzzy techniques are among the currently discussed approaches in this area but they are not yet well established. The article describes the working procedure and application of a Neuro Fuzzy algorithm by taking an example from the tool monitoring sector.

Multimedia remote diagnosis system. The integration of graphics, still and moving images as well as sound contributes considerably to the improvement of man-machine communication. As an example for a multimedia application of telecommunication, the present article introduces a remote diagnosis system for machine tools. Among the innovative features of the system is its farreaching flexible adaptability to specific requirements.
