Between 20 and 25% of German biotechnology patents which have been filed between 1980 and 1990 originated from Baden Württemberg indicating a strong position among the German Länder. The strongest growth rate of patent applications in Baden-Württemberg can be observed in environmental biotechnology. A detailed analysis of the time course of patent applications shows that the innovative dynamics in biotechnology has been less pronounced in Baden-Württemberg compared to Germany as a whole. Therefore it is concluded that the strong position of Baden-Württemberg may be at risk in the future.deBiotechnologiebiotechnologycompanyEntwicklungstrendFirmaLandPatentregional policyRegionalpolitikSpecializationSpezialisierungTechnologiepolitiktechnology policytrend303600Patentanalyse zu Innovationsaktivitäten in der Biotechnologie in Baden-Württemberg.
