To answer that question a consortium of 25 partners from industry, research, municipal administrations, and associations came together under the lead of Fraunhofer ISE in the format of a transdisciplinary real-life laboratory. In a first step a potential survey was carried out, which collected concrete actor-related hydrogen consumption and generation potentials from all sectors for the project region. This data was used as data basis and to identify 20 regional case studies from all sectors and supply-chain-segment relevant for Hydrogen. These case studies were developed and analysed in detail to derive synergies, problems and solutions for implementing hydrogen in these case studies. In doing so, these case studies were based on theory but with the perspective of implementation. This project had a strong positive impact on the project region and started a transformation process towards hydrogen for many stake holders - even beyond the original project consortia. As of July 2022, this movement has cumulated in the founding of the initiative 3H2. But - due to the Covid-19 pandemic - the project had to cope with significant limitations. Apart from not implementing a part of the demonstrators the project also accumulated delays over the timeline of the project. These delays could not be completed despite the efforts and therefore the project had to end without being able to transfer the results of the case studies into concrete result documents and consolidated recommendations. This report therefore concentrates on describing the results of the case studies and presenting the conclusions of the respective case studies.deWasserstoff-Technologien am Südlichen Oberrhein (H2SO).
