The most important approaches are the "Standard for Exchange of Product Definition Data (STEP)" and the "Electronic Design Interchange Format (EDIF)". This paper reports the results of a workshop on the harmonization of these two standards. After an introduction to STEP and EDIF some investigations about the relationship between both formats are shown. The report concludes with recommendations and goals for futural integration of the standards.
