High-quality drill holes in hybrid composites Qualitätsbohrungen in Hybrid-Verbundwerkstoffen

Machining lightweight hybrid structures is challenging due to the combination of different materials and the resulting different machining parameters. To maintain the structural integrity of the materials, the paper presents a tooling method for thermoplastic-based GRP-steel hybrid composites, enabling damage-free holes to be drilled in the composite. In addition to the resource-efficient tooling method, experimental validations are presented.
