Title
Multi-Purpose Handheld Photonic Terahertz FMCW Radar for Nondestructive Inspection of Thin and Thick Layers of Paint-Coated Glass Fiber-Reinforced Composites
Abstract
The integration of an ultra-broadband photonic frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radar technology into handheld devices presents a novel advancement in nondestructive testing (NDT) of glass-fiber reinforced composite panels (GFRP). This device enables precise measurement of both composite structures, as well as surface coatings, traditionally assessed using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy systems (TDS). Photonic FMCW radar offers high-resolution imaging capabilities, making it a versatile tool for industrial applications. This paper extends previous research by demonstrating the dual functionality of photonic FMCW radar in evaluating both composite structures and surface coatings, highlighting its potential as a comprehensive solution for NDT in industrial environments.
