Title

Monitoring soil properties on offshore structures (4D Seismic on piles)

Abstract
Main purpose of this presentation is to report on the extent to which changes in soil conditions in the vicinity of piles are measurable at all, beyond dynamic pile measurements, and in particular, the role that seismic measurements, 4D seismics, can play in this regard, potentially leading to offshore applications. OBN seismics, CPT, and dynamic pile measurements were investigated in precisely defined test environments and accompanied by modeling and synthetic seismics, the results of which were directly incorporated into the work. Fascinating insights into changing soil properties around driven and vibrated test piles will be reported, derived from repeated seismic and geotechnical measurements and enhanced with the help of simulations and synthetic seismics to create spatial images of soil modification in time.
