Title
A Cradle-to-Gate Product Carbon Footprint Calculation Method Based on Trusted Data Space
Abstract
Sustainability and carbon emission reduction have become critical priorities in the manufacturing industry. As the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) emerges as a key indicator for sustainable product development and supply chain management, there is an increasing demand for accurate and trustworthy PCF data across the entire supply chain. However, conventional PCF calculation methods are often constrained by fragmented data sources, heterogeneous data quality, and insufficient support for cross-organizational data exchange, which collectively undermine the precision and reliability of the resulting carbon footprint assessments. To address these limitations, this paper proposes a cradle-to-gate PCF calculation Method based on trusted data space technology. By incorporating secure data exchange mechanisms and enforcing data sovereignty principles, the proposed approach enables reliable integration and sharing of carbon emission data across organizational boundaries. The main contributions of this study are: (1) A credible PCF exchange architecture based on trusted data spaces is designed and implemented; (2) A standardized Cradle-to-Gate PCF calculation method is proposed; (3) The effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method are validated through a case study.
