Title
Software assisted implementation of infrasonic oscillation superposition in honing
Abstract
Honing is used as a finishing process to meet high demands regarding form and dimensional accuracy of bores. The superposition of infrasonic oscillations in honing improves the surface quality while reducing the process forces. In this study, a software tool is presented which automatically compiles oscillation parameters and generates standardized G-code to implement infrasonic oscillation superpositions on conventional machine tools. Applying the software tool on a machining center, a reduction of up to 39 % in the process forces were achieved.
