Title

Synthetic Data Generation for Process-Specific Nominal Geometry in Fused Deposition Modeling

Abstract
Fused Deposition Modeling offers a cost-effective approach for producing customized products in small batches. However, the inherent physical constraints of the process result in printed part geometries deviating from the intended nominal geometry, i.e., the CAD. To address this challenge in geometric quality assurance, this research introduces a method for synthetic data generation of process-specific nominal geometry. This involves depositing material along the planned machine path in a voxel-based environment, utilizing a volume conservation model that considers the interaction of the extruded material with its surroundings.
