Title

Rethinking stowage planning

Abstract
SySta Stowage planning in loading units is a classic optimisation problem that is often underestimated in practice despite its high saving potential. The SySta project (system for stowage planning of sea and air freight loading units) combines contactless, process-near measurement of the actual package geometry with an optimisation procedure aligned with real-world constraints, as outlined by Oliver Schmitz, Dr Anisa Rizvanolli and Dr Ole John of Hamburg’s Fraunhofer Center for Maritime Logistics and Services (CML).
