Title

DYNAMIC BEHAVIOR OF PASSIVE MICROVALVES IN MICROPUMPS FOR MEDICAL APPLICATIONS

Abstract
The advancement in microfluidic research enables several new applications, especially, within the medical field, e.g., drug delivery, portable infusion or hydraulic implants. Those often come along with complex microfluidic requirements, that demand extremely detailed understanding of all included components. In particular devices dealing with liquids, show an intense interaction of the actuator with its fluidic surrounding. Hence, this work examines the dynamic response of passive spring valves experimentally. It is obtained by exciting the valves with a sharp pressure impulse. Analysis of the optical measurements provide dynamic parameters that are obligatory for modeling and further valve optimization.
