Title

Pulsed high-power thulium-doped all-fibre laser

Abstract
A thulium-doped fibre laser in QCW operation is investigated. By modulating six pump diodes with a total pump power of about 2030 W, a peak power of 1142 W at 2031 nm is obtained. The pulse width is 100 μs at a pulse repetition rate of 1 kHz. Modulation instabilities caused by intermodal FWM are observed and dependencies on the pulse width investigated.
