Title

Unlocking the potential of blockchain-based trust anchors using TRAIN

Abstract
This paper explores the innovative use of the TRAIN (Trust management INfrastructure) to bridge trust anchors in blockchain ecosystems, with a specific focus on the integration of cheqd’s blockchain-based trust anchors. By leveraging TRAIN’s decentralized trust management infrastructure and cheqd’s capabilities for creating and verifying Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) and Verifiable Credentials (VCs), we propose a scalable framework for establishing trust in decentralized identity ecosystems. The paper demonstrates how TRAIN enables verifiers to independently assess the credibility of credential issuers and the trust chain of blockchain trust anchors, while cheqd ensures secure, transparent, interoperable, and standards-compliant identity management. This integration not only strengthens the reliability of blockchain-based trust anchors but also addresses critical challenges in data sovereignty, interoperability, and scalability within digital identity ecosystems.
