Title
Dead-time compensation based on a physical model with online self-commissioning procedure based on an Extended Kalman Filter
Abstract
This paper presents a dead-time compensation (DTC) for the disturbance voltage induced on the output phase voltages of a three-legs two-level inverter by the dead-time. This DTC relies on a physical model including apart from the dead-time duration also the phase output capacitance. Because those values are conventionally only roughly known beforehand, an online self-commissioning procedure based on an extended Kalman filter (EKF) is introduced, enabling a precise parameter estimation. The resulting solution is foreseen to be easily implemented in industrial drives and increases the low-speed performances of a sensorless vector-controlled permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM).
