Title
Identifying the Potential of the Heat Generation of the Power Supply for a PEM Electrolyzer Plant in the Megawatt Range
Abstract
The heat produced by an electrolyzer can be utilized for district heating purposes, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency of the system. This study shows that the heat from the power supply contributes a substantial amount to the total heat output of an electrolyzer plant. A case study was conducted where multiple levels of heat recovery from the electrolyzer and the power supply were compared to demonstrate the contribution of the power supply to the total waste heat output. Even in the worst-case scenarios, an additional 8 % of waste heat can be added to the total waste heat for further usage by utilizing the power supply's waste heat.
