Title
Automated Multi-Criteria Planning for the Expansion and Reinforcement of Electrical Grids
Abstract
In this publication, we introduce a methodology for power system planning that considers multiple objectives. Thismethodology was developed within the research project "ANaPlan Plus" which aimed to identify optimization potentialsin the area of energy grids through new degrees of freedom from a cross-divisional and cross-sectoral perspective[1].The proposed grid planning method employs optimization methods suitable for multi-criteria decision support such asgenetic algorithms to identify multiple Pareto front solutions for grid reinforcement and expansion problems. The criteriaconsidered include economic costs, social or ecological impacts and reliability, with reliability represented by a simplifiedcalculation of ASIDI. The approach has been tested on the medium-voltage Oberrhein grid from pandapower [2], a genericnetwork assembled from publicly available data, supplemented with experience-based parameters [3]. Additionally, whilenot currently implemented, the presented approach would make it possible to include further criteria in the future, suchas resource availability and capacity planning for the identified expansion and reinforcement measures.
