Title

Equipment as a Service (EaaS): a case study for monitoring and billing using the Asset Administration Shell (AAS)

Abstract
With Equipment-as-a-Service (EaaS) manufacturers charge their equipment based on its usage. EaaS offerings can consist of multiple services from different providers. To monitor and bill the various services an EaaS provider must have all necessary operating data available from his partners. To ensure interoperability considering the data-exchange, the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) defines submodels for different use cases. However, EaaS business models are not considered there. To fill this gap, this paper proposes an AAS-based information model and evaluates it using an exemplary service. The model serves as a basis for the development of an AAS submodel for EaaS.
