Report on analysis of applied R&D and technology transfer. Deliverable 2.2 of the ShapingBio project
Abstract
This publication is a deliverable of the project ShapingBio, a HorizonEurope funded Coordination and Support Action. Its aims are to gain a deeperunderstanding of the EU bioeconomy innovation eco-system and to derive recommendations on which measures should be taken, by EU, Member States, and others to strengthen bioeconomy innovation systems. The global transition towards a sustainable bioeconomy necessitates a robust innovation ecosystem capable of translating cutting-edge research into tangible applications and marketable solutions. Recognizing this critical need, three in-depth analyses of applied R&D and technology transfer are documented: Applied R&D at Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 3-4: academia/public research - industry collaboration in Germany, Spain and Czech Republic Applied R&D at pilot (TRL 4-5) and demo (TRL 6-7) stage: role of open access pilot and demo infrastructures in the EU High TRL Demo cases (TRL > 7), based on 11 interviews with high-level staff from companies in France, Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Hungary, Israel, Finland).
