Title

Ontology-Based Engineering

Title Supplement
An Overview
Abstract
The application of ontologies is a promising approach to advance knowledge sharing, interoperability and creational work in product creation. In this contribution, literature research is done to identify high and low addressed fields of the research area Ontology-Based Engineering. For this, two approximations to the state of the art are elaborated. At first, the search in Scopus and Web of Science. Second, to broaden the search results in Google Scholar. Identified main areas of work are the engineering of products and production systems, whereby other phases of the product lifecycle were addressed by work, two - excluding manufacturing and recycling. Currently trending areas, which could be addressed by ontology-related work, like Artificial Intelligence and Digital Twins, or even Cognitive Digital Twins are not targeted by the identified publications.
