Title
Managing product flexibility by implementing service-oriented architecture in large-scale cell finishing production
Abstract
Lithium-ion-battery as a key component in electric vehicles contributes significantly to reducing vehicle emissions and meeting the European Union's climate targets of at least 55 % emission reduction by 2030. Battery product and technology are currently undergoing rapid development to improve cell performance and safety. As the product and production development progresses, parameter range and product and production interdependencies increase. As a result of this complexity, flexible production adaptation in terms of process and equipment is a challenge when product parameters change. This paper presents a methodology based on a double V-Model and customised service-oriented architecture which is applied to cell finishing production. The process model, implemented using Simulink, demonstrates how interdependencies between cell design and production can be quickly identified and accurately mapped. In addition, it contributes to the future evaluation of possible plant solutions in case product parameters change during and after the development process.
