Title

From Lab to Grid Application: Development of a 5 kW/12 kWh Aqueous Organic Flow Battery in project HIGREEW

Title Supplement
Presentation held at International Flow Battery Forum 2025, 24 to 26 June 2025, Vienna, Austria
Abstract
The aim of project HIGREEW was to develop a novel type of flow battery system with aqueous organic electrolytes using a European supply chain in order to minimise material dependency and increase sustainability. In this work we present the final steps of the project, the construction and commissioning of a kW-scale aqueous organic redox flow battery (AORFB) prototype and its implementation in the real environment at "La Plana Hybrid Pilot Plant" near Zaragoza, Spain
