Work package 4
Abstract
The i-MASTER project focuses on integrating adaptive learning into maritime simulator-based education. Deliverable D4.2 documents the usability testing and evaluation of a Learning Analytics Dashboard (LAD) designed for remote maritime simulation training. A structured online survey was conducted among first-year maritime students at the University of South-Eastern Norway to assess the usability and effectiveness of the LAD. Results showed a positive reception, with 83% of students expressing a preference for viewing both personal and class performance data. The System Usability Scale (SUS) survey indicated general ease of use, with suggestions for improving data visualizations and interpretation training. Additionally, 75% of participants found the integrated analytics useful for enhancing learning, with particular interest in peer comparison and performance insights. These findings provide valuable feedback for further refinement of the LAD and underscore the potential of adaptive learning tools in enhancing maritime education outcomes.
