Title

A Data Space Experimentation Framework

Abstract
The establishment of data spaces for sovereign data exchange in digital ecosystems is gaining momentum through various European projects and initiatives. However, the complexity of these technologies and the diverse design options pose challenges, necessitating technical support for experimentation. This paper explores the development of a well-structured, technological framework called "Dataspace Scenario Simulation Framework" (DSSIM) designed to enable seamless experimentation with data spaces. The focus lies on the interchangeability and expandability of framework modules to accommodate dynamic developments in the field. Automated scenario execution within the framework saves researchers considerable time in constructing and deploying different scenarios, enhancing reproducibility and comparability of experiments. Consequently, the paper demonstrates how this technological framework empowers researchers to conduct investigations into data spaces, leading to improved research quality and insights.
